Welcome To Joe Robaina’s Cane-Do Kai U.S.A. Home Study Course

The Home Study course is designed to allow Cane self defense enthusiasts to learn in the privacy of their homes.

Logistics, time restraints, and lack of qualified instructors may prevent people such as yourself from learning the art of  Cane-Do Kai U.S.A./American Cane Self Defense.  With this in mind, Pinnacle CaneMaster Robaina designed this Home study course to meet your needs.

How The Program Works

First you need to get the introductory Cane-Do Kai U.S.A. six DVD series.  These DVDs contain more than plenty material for the ACSD certification and all the information to get you through the intermediate levels of  the Cane-Do Kai U.S.A. curriculum.

Each DVD is taught by Joe Robaina in a step by step fashion that makes it easy and enjoyable to learn the art of the cane.

You will not only learn the cane self defense techniques but you will also develop the speed, power, and accuracy CDK U.S.A. is known for. PCM Robaina brings his innovative expertise to your screen and provides insight into the art that has made him an icon in this field.

Here is an example of how to set up your Home Study Course

If you are new to the art of the Cane, you’ll want to start with the “Power Foundations ” DVD.  It contains the Five Basic Power Shots  and Power Shot Kata which will teach you how to handle most attacks.  A Kata (Form) is a step by step sequence which allows you to practice applications in a logical order against imaginary opponents for solo practice. It also explains the self defense meaning of each movement to perform with a partner. This first DVD also teaches you the exercises and drills you need to practice to develop the power, speed and accuracy which are hallmarks of CDK U.S.A.   These are requirements for your yellow belt level.

To support this first Belt level, we suggest you become a member of our on-line dojo to learn the empty hand translations of the katas (forms) which are required. Our forms our short so there isn’t alot of memorization involved.  As a member of our on-line Dojo, you will learn directly from PCM Robaina just as his personal headquarters students do.

This combination of DVDs and online instruction will take you from beginner to Cane-Do Kai U.S.A. Black Belt. If you simply wish to become an ACSD Instructor to teach community programs or seniors, the DVD series alone will suffice. Ofcourse, the online-dojo provides on-going instruction.

How To Test For Rank

Once you have a working knowledge of the material required for your rank, you film yourself on home DVD with using an assistant to help you demonstrate your proficiency  which should include speed, power, accuracy and control.

You then send your DVD to PCM Robaina and he will grade it in his school in Miami, Florida.

As you progress through your training, you will be in contact with PCM Robaina via e-mail and or phone to guide you with any questions regarding your training. Upon a thorough evaluation of your examination and PCM Robaina feels you are ready for your next level, you will be promoted with an official CDK U.S.A. Certificate personally signed and stamped by the Founder himself.  Study time between ranks is discussed directly with PCM Robaina.

For those who would like to come to Miami to test you are welcome to do so with prior arrangement. Please contact the CDK U.S.A. headquarters directly for this.

Throughout the year, PCM Robaina attends functions such as seminars, martial arts camps, Hall of Fames, and tournaments where you may be able to test in person. This is a great option if you’re learning via home study.
