How to Develop Cane Power

If you’ve been following or are familiar with American Cane Self Defense you know that I’m a big fan of the power shot. The power shot gives great leverage and it’s one of the basic moves and obviously the more power you can put behind your powershot the better.

For most beginners starting out with Cane Self Defense, they’ll make the mistake of using their arms or the length of the cane as their source of power. This is a mistake.  Your leaving a lot of power on the table and you’re putting a strain on your elbows.

Your cane power shots do not come from your arms, they originate in your hips.  This video will help you learn how to center your power from your hips and not your arms.
